jbs mercantile: april gallery

the april kits have arrived on the shelves at jbs mercantile and the design team gallery is packed with inspiration!  oh me!  oh my!  have i had fun playing with these kits!  yes!  the colors are just delightful and were oh so so so perfect for scrapbooking my rainbow themed birthday party!  i made two project life pages and two layouts to document this event and i'm delighted with all of them.  next up, i think i will dig out my easter pics from 2012 and get back to work on that album (cuz in case you didnt' hear the news, 2013 is DONE!).

on this first layout, i used the diecut paper from the papercrafting kit as a stencil.  i simply outlined and lightly colored in a few triangles with watercolored pencils and then used a wet brush to blend them.  a few spritzes and splotches of heidi swapp color shine in gold lame added to the festive atmosphere.  i then couldn't resist adding a few embellishing bits from the mini-album kit and the artisan add-on.

i then made a project life page to pair with it.  i originally put the gold butterfly rub-on (mini-album kit) on the lined patterned paper and felt it got lost.  i thought i might have another in my stash, but alas i did not.  i then went with plan B and trimmed out the butterfly, adhered it to white cardstock, and then stitched it down to that same patterned paper.  i like it!

the two pages together.

then layout #2 did not want to cooperate.  blerg.  i finally started over and it came together like a charm.  i just needed to use a lighter touch.

i pulled out the watercolors again for this one.  the journaling lines are a simple brushstroke, while the section at the top is watercolored and then a textured doily sticker was layered over it.

then another project life page . . .

and the two pages together.  more pages to come with these kits on the 15th!

  1. I love your pages Doris...I love the way you used the cutout with the triangles and the water color pencils. Such a neat look. All your pages look so bright and happy!
